94 a son named John aged one year which said negroes Rachel Elvina Anne and John I do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free and do from henceforth declare the said Rachel Elvina anne and John to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude for ever In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal the twenty first day of November Eighteen hundred and Eighteen Sign'd Seal'd and deliver'd his in presence of John X Adams (seal) Thomas W Howard Nicholas Worthington of Tho on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County ss On the 21st day of November 1818 Came the within named John Adams before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for sd County & acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof paid Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Nicholas Worthington of Thos 2½ Recorded the 14th day of December 1818 Maryland ss Know all men by these presents that I John Gwinn of the City of annapolis for divers considerations me hereunto moving and also for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid hath liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and set free my negro man slave named Isaac commonly called Isaac Stevens who is able and Capable by labour to procure to himself sufficient food and raiment with other requisite necessaries of life (Given) |
