68 Wit: James Hunter his Charles H Willigmann James X Boothe (seal) mark At the foot and on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Rec.d on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of Ten dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Test John A OReilly his James X Boothe mark Anne Arundle County to wit: on this twenty first day of april Eighteen hundred and Eighteen personally appears James Booth party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman and her children within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before James Hunter 3 Recorded the 21st day of april 1818 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Joseph G Franklin of anne arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my dark mulatto man named Thomas Mullen being of the age of forty years and able to work and (gain) |
