67 On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Maryland Ann Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on this 29th day of march in the year Eighteen hundred and Eighteen personally appeared before the subscriber an associate Judge of the third Judicial District of maryland Charles Sterett Ridgely within named and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Ch.d Acknowledged before Rich.d Ridgely Ex.d d.d 2¼ Recorded the 3d day of April 1818 To all whom it may concern Be it known That I James Booth of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and consideration me thereunto moving as also in further consideration Ten dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free a negro woman named Nelly Booth being of the age of about forty five years and able to work and a sufficient livelihood and maintenance to obtain together with her Seven Children to wit Priscilla aged twenty years James about Eighteen and Thomas, Elijah, Gassaway Walter and Roanna Booth all Children of the aforesaid Nelly Booth I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty first day of april Eighteen hundred and Eighteen (Signed) |
