62 manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my son named Harry martin being of the age of thirty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Harry martin I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen Signed Sealed and delivered his in the presence of us George X Martin (seal) William Ross mark J Sands Jun.r On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of three hundred dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness William Ross his J Sands Jun.r George X martin mark Anne Arundel County sc. Be it remembered That on this 25th day of February 1818 personally appears George martin party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a justice of the peace for the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and his son within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before James Hunter Ex.d d.d 3½ Recorded the 25th day of February 1818 |
