616 subscriber one of the Justices of the peace and for the State of maryland personally appeared Ann Franklin grantor of the within deed of manumission being personally known to me as the person Executing the same and acknowledged the same as his act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned Wm Glover Exd Ex.d d d paid 2½ Recorded the 3d day of august 1841 Know all men by these presents that I Elias Ellicott of the City of Baltimore and State of maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving and also in Consideration of the sum of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released exhonerated and for ever discharged and by the presents do release exhonerate and for ever discharge my Negro woman servant named Mary Sopram (whom I purchased of Captain B Brown) who is now about Thirty one years of age and her Children one named Henny about Eight years of age one other named Charles about six years of age one other named Eliza about five years of age One other named Hetty about three years of age and one other named William about one year of age from all claim of service or servitude to me my Executors administrators or assigns in as full and ample a manner as if they had been born free and I hereby authorise and empower them and each of them to act as if they were remaining and releasing all claim and Contract over their services In Testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name and affixed my seal on this twentieth day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two Elias Ellicott (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in presence (of) |
