60 Anne Arundel County ss Be it remembered. That on the twentieth day of January Eighteen hundred and Eighteen personally appears George Wells party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro Girl within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any person claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided. Acknowledged before Ch.d Benj.a Pindle 3 Recorded the 20th day of January 1818 To all whom it may concern Be it known that we mary armiger and Richard G Hutton administrators of John armiger deceased of anne arundle County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations us thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars current money to us in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free our negro woman named Abigail being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Abigail we do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to us our Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our |
