and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood
and maintenance her the said negro woman
named Kitty Himes I do declare to be henceforth free
manumitted & discharged from all maner of
servitude to me my Executors or administrators for
ever   In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this fourteenth day of January
in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and thirty eight               Elizabeth X Rawlings  (seal)

    At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
          Be it remembered  That on this fourteenth day
of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
hundred and thirty Eight before me the subscriber
one of the Justices of the peace for the County and State
aforesaid personally appeared Elizabeth Rawlings
party to the within Indenture and acknowledged the
said Indenture to be her act and deed for the purposes
therein mentioned

       To all whom it may Concern  Be it known
that I Frederick Rawlings of anne arundel County
in the State of maryland for divers good causes
and Considerations me thereunto moving have
liberated manumitted and set free and by these
presents do hereby release from slavery liberate
manumit and set free my negro boy John being
about the age of three years and him the said
negro boy named John I do declare to be henceforth
free manumitted and discharged from all
maner of servitude to me my Executors or
