580 whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of august in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty six Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Lewis Sutton S.r John Childs (seal) Lewis Griffith On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness John Childs (seal) Lewis Sutton S.r Ann Arundell County to wit On this third day of august 1836 personally appears John Childs party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the said County and State of maryland and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided 5½ Acknowledged before Lewis Sutton Sr paid Recorded the 17.th day of January 1837 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Lydia Gambrill of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted set free and by these (presents) |
