578 subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally appeared James M Lucas party to the foregoing manumission or instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Fredk Rawlings paid 3½ Recorded the 19th day of october 1836 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I Jeremiah Jones of Ann Arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one Dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my negro man named Samuel Sevgries being of the age of fifty five and abel to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Samuel I do declare to be at the expiration of my death liberated manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to my Executors administrators or assigns forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty six Signed Sealed and delivered his in the presents of Jeremiah X Jones (seal) his mark Joshua X Young Ely S Brown mark on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentd the sum of one dollar Current money It being the |
