549 work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Thomas I do declare to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 10.th day of May 1833 Signed sealed and delivered Maria Gambrill (seal) In presence of S Gambrill On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of ten dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Maria Gambrill Anne Arundel County Sct On this 10.th day of may 1833 personally appears Maria Gambrill party to the within Instrument of writing before the subscriber a justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned (after interlining the words "the date of" in the Eleventh line) and the said negro man within named to be thenceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided chd Acknowledged before S Gambrill 3 Recorded the 20.th day of May 1833 Be it known that I Elizabeth Mackubin of the City of Annapolis in anne arundel County and state of Maryland for divers good causes and in consideration |
