548 On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Jacob Hollingsworth J S Williams Anne Arundel County Sct Be it remembered that on this sixteenth day of February 1832 personally appears Jacob Hollingsworth party to the within Instrument of writing before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said County & acknowledges the same to his act & deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman Prudence within named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him & to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made & provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before J S Williams paid chd 2¼ Recorded the 27.th day of March 1833 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Maria Gambrill of Ann Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of ten dollars current money to me in hand paid will release from slavery liberate manumit and set free and by these presents will hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free at the Expiration of three years from the date of these presents my negro man Thomas being of the age of forty years and able to work |
