540 within mentioned and the negro woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to us or to any claiming under us and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Gideon white District of Columbia Washington County Ss On this 6.th day of June 1832 Personally appeared william Parsons before the subscriber one of the united states Justices of the peace in & for said County and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act & deed for the purposes therein contained chd Acknowledged before James Getty JP 4 Recorded the 25.th day of July 1832 State of Maryland Ann Arundel County to wit: To all whom it may concern be in known that I Nicholas Maccubbin of ann arundel County and State of Maryland as aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro girl named Mant being of the age of thirteen years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and her the said negro girl named Mant I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from and after the twenty fourth of December one |
