53 on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of Ten dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness James Hunter Margaret Callahan (seal) Wm S Green Anne Arundel County sc. Be it remembered That on this 28th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen personally appears margaret Callahan party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the within named Henry Bishop to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Ch.d James Hunter Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 31.st day of October 1817 To all whom it may consern Be it known that I Ruth Davis of the City of Annapolis in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also for a valuable consideration in money to me in hand paid by Robert marshall of anne arundel County in the State aforesaid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do after the expiration of two years from the date hereof hereby relese from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Sam Tune being of the age of forty four years who is to serve the said Robert marshall for the period of the (said) |
