503 the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Th G Waters 4 Recorded the 18.th day of November 1831 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Susanna Barber of the City of annapolis in the State of Maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving and also in further consideration of the sum of five dollars to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my mulatto child the daughter of my mulatto woman Eliza the child named Martha Ann aged about two years and four months and her the said Mulatto child named Martha Ann I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 31 day of May 1831 Sign'd seal'd and delivered Susanna Barber (seal) in presence of Gideon white Gustavus R Barber At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Received on the day and date above mentioned five dollars it being the full consideration above mentioned Susanna Barber Maryland City of annapolis ann arundel County |
