5 year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and sixteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of John C Mackubin (seal) Frederick Harwood R Loockerman At the foot and on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of four hundred dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned John C Mackubin Witness Frederick Harwood Ann Arundel County to wit On this Eleventh day of September 1816 Personally appears John C Mackubin party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Exd dd Frederick Harwood chd 2¾ Recorded the 11th day of September 1816 Know all men by these presents that I Ann Dorsey of anne arundel County and State of maryland believing that natural freedom is the right of all men do hereby set free and manumit the following negroes and their issue at the respective periods of time and in the manner following to wit Negro Lyd aged about thirty years to be free from the date hereof Negro Harriot aged about Eleven years to be free in fourteen years from the date hereof; Negro (William) |
