497 Samuel Bradford of Anne Arundel County and state of Maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving as also the further sum of Twenty Dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof ^of which^ I do hereby acknowledge have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and set free the following negroes to wit my negro woman Jemima aged fifteen years to serve until she arrives at the age of forty years from the date hereof the said negroes I do declare to be free manumitted discharged and set free from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors Administrators or assigns forever on the above described terms. In testimony ^Witness^ whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of October one thousand Eight hundred and thirty one Signed sealed and delivered Saml Bradford (seal) in presence of Th G waters Thomas T Simmons At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of Twenty dollars it being the full consideration for the above instrument and the sum above mentioned Witness Th G Waters Sam.l Bradford Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this Twenty seventh day of October 1831 appeared Samuel Bradford before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the ^said^ state and county and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the |
