477 acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming unto him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided chd acknowledged before Th G waters 3¼ Recorded the 13.th day of March 1831 I Nathaniel Chew of Anne Arundel County do hereby manumit and set free the following negroes to wit: Maria Simms aged about thirty years and her three children Polly aged about five years Peter aged about three years and Harriett aged about one year as witness my hand and seal this day first day of October Eighteen hundred and twenty four his Witness Jno G Rogers Nathaniel X Chew (seal) mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: On this first day of Oct.r 1824 personally appears before the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace for said County Nathaniel Chew and acknowledges the above deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negroes therein mentioned to be free and discharged from slavery chd Richard G watkins 1½ Recorded the 18.th day of March 1831 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Stephen Lee of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro |
