447 be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Chd Acknowledged before Nathan Shipley 3½ Recorded the 23.rd day of November 1829 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Ann Boone of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of Five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Kitty Gooden being of the age of thirty eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Kitty Gooden I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty nine Witness Gideon White W.m Brown of Ben Ann Boone (seal) On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date of the within Instrument of writing the consideration money therein mentioned Ann Boone Anne Arundel County Sct On this twenty fourth day of December Eighteen hundred and twenty nine personally appears Ann Boone party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the county aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed |
