Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of: Jerningham Richd Darnall (seal) Drury Sam Harrison At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: on the 10th day of may in the year one thousand Eight hundred and five personally appeared Richard Darnall party to the within deed before me one of the Justices of anne arundel County and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed to and for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and agreeable to the form of the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Saml Harrison Ch.d 13¾ Recorded the 29th day of July 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Joseph Phelps of anne arundel County in the City of annapolis and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery my negro woman Henny Hall being about the age of twenty years and able to get her living have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the said negro woman Henny Hall from and after the fifteenth of march Eighteen hundred and thirty two I do declare the said negro woman Henny Hall to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators for ever after the expiration of the term above mentioned In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of august in the year of our Lord one (thousand) |
