423 seal this tenth day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty nine Signed sealed and delivered In presence of Ann Stockett (seal) Th S Alexander Jos Mayo At the foot of the aforegoing was thus Endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County Sc Be it remembered That on this Tenth day of personally appears Anne Stockett party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Jos Mayo Ex.d d.d 2¾ Recorded the 23.rd day of May 1829 Know all men by these presents that I Eleanor Thompson of the City of annapolis in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted set free and released from slavery and by these presents do manumit set free and release from slavery my negro woman Heziah of about twenty years of age hereby discharging and absolutely releasing the said woman from all manner of servitude to me or to my representatives and to have and enjoy her free^dom^ in as full and ample manner as if she had never been a slave In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this Eleventh day of May in the year of our Lord one (thousand) |
