416 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Sophi Moore of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro girl Sarah Sarah aged about Eight years of age to be free when she arrive at the age of sixteen years from the date hereof able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and the said negro girl Sarah and her Increase to be free to her latest generations I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whareof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight Signed Sealed and delivered her In the presence of Sophia x Moore Richard G Hutton mark James U C Miller Received on the day of the above date mentioned the sum of one dollar current money it being the full consideration money above mentioned her Richard G Hutton Sophia x Moore mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written To wit State of Maryland Anne arundel County To wit On this 27th day of November 1828 personally appears Sophia Moore party to the above Instrument of writing (before) |
