351 manumission for the uses & purposes therein mentioned paid James Hunter 2¼ Recorded the 12th day of October 1826 To all ^to^ whom it may concern be it known that I Gerard H Snowden of An Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the negroes heretofore sold by me to Charles B Ross for a term of years with the reversion in me from and after the respective periods herein indicated to wit. William Gibson and Sarah his wife and Henry Gibson being respectively of the ages of thirty five thirty two and twenty two years in the order of their names and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance to be free on the sealing and delivery of these presents from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever and Hercules Gibson aged twenty years on the eighth day of March eighteen hundred and twenty six Eliza Gibson aged fourteen on the ninth day of January eighteen hundred and twenty six Sophia Gibson aged eight years on the sixth day of December eighteen hundred and twenty six William Gibson aged six years on the twenty first day of August eighteen hundred and twenty six Dennis Gibson aged four years on the ninth day of May eighteen hundred and twenty seven and George Gibson aged two years on the third day of December eighteen hundred and twenty six all children of the said William and Sarah Gibson to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators (forever) |
