349 Be it remembered that on this twenty fifth day of May eighteen hundred and twenty six personally appears Solomon Groves party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the said deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him after the time herein specified according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ch.d Gideon White 2¾ Recorded the 18th day of September 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I James Allison of the City of Annapolis and State of Maryland have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro Girl named Betty (otherwise Elizabeth Lee) about 5 feet high aged about thirty three years of old able to work and and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Girl named I do hereby declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In testimoy I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day of in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty six Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of James Allison (seal) Gideon White James H Hyde At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County sst On the 5th day of October 1826 appeared James Allison before the subscriber a (Justice) |
