333 day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty six Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Phil D Ridgely (seal) Joseph P Peddicord John W Ringrose At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of forty five dollars current money it being the full consideration within mentioned Philemon D Ridgely (seal) Anne Arundel County ss On this twentieth day of February 1826 personally appears Philemon D Ridgely party to the above instrument of writting before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said County and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purpose above mentioned & the negrow man above named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all service to him or to any claiming under him and to be free & manumitted according to the act or acts of assembly in such case made & provided Ch.d Acknowledged before John W Ringrose (seal) 3 Recorded the 7th day of April 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel H Beall of Anne Arundle County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of six pence current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named John Courts being of the age of twenty eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named John Courts & do (declare) |
