331 County of anne arundel State of Maryland to wit On this Eleventh day of March 1826 personally appears Orlando G White party to the within instrument of wrighting before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said state & for said county & acknowledged the same to be his act & Deed for the purposes within mentioned & the negrow man within named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all service to him or any other claiming under him save only the within named Thomas Griffith for the term of five years as within named & the said negrow within named to be free & manumitted according to the acts of assembly made & provided in such case Ch.d Taken & acknowledged before John W Ringrose 8¾ Recorded the 5th day of April 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Elizabeth Hood of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Andrew being of the age of forty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Andrew I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude or service to me my executors administrators and assigns forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of April in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty six Signed Sealed and delivered Elizabeth Hood (seal) in presence of Jos J Hopkins Hester Hood (At) |
