305 of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such Cases made and provided acknowledged before John Johns Ex.d d.d paid 5 Recorded the 1st day of February 1825 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Gerrard Williams of the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundell County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my negro woman named Ann being of the age of thirty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Ann I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five signed sealed & delivered Edw.d Williams (seal) in the presence of Gideon White At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned (the) |
