294 release from slavery manumit and set free my negro boy named William aged about twelve years at the expiration of Eighteen years from the fourteenth day of June next. In Witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this twenty second day of may eighteen hundred and twenty four signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Zachariah Roberts Beal Owens (seal) Nich.s D Warfield of Bela At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On the twenty second day of may 1824 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid personally appeared Beal Owens and acknowledged the above Deed or instrument of writing to be his act and Deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such Cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before Nich.s D Warfield of Bela paid 2 Recorded the 25th day of August 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Dennis H Battee of anne arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and do by the presents hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Aaron alias Aaron Rawlings and one negro woman named Phebe alias Phebe Rawlings they being able to work and gain a sufficient maintenance and they the said negroes (viz) |
