2 man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all Services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Frederick Harwood chd 2¾ Recorded the 23d day of august 1816 Maryland sc To all whom it may concern Be it known that I William Sanders Green of the City of annapolis in the County of anne arundel and State of maryland administrators of Frederick Green late of the City County and State aforesaid deceased for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars Current money to me in hand paid as administrator as aforesaid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free a black woman slave named Betty Matthews lately belonging to the Estate of the said Frederick Green deceased of the age of thirty years of a healthy constitution and sound in mind and body and able and capable by labour to procure for herself sufficient food and raiment and to gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance with other requisite necessaries of life and her the said woman named Betty Matthews or by whatsoever other name she may be known or called I do declare to be henceforth set free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to the Estate of the said Frederick Green deceased or his representatives (or) |
