or under me hereby freely requited released
exonerated and discharged to the said mary
Thomas and her hereafter increase if any by
these presents  In Witness whereof I the said John
Franklin hath hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal this thirtieth day of march in the year of
our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty
one

       on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written
to wit:      On the thirtieth day of march in the year
of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty
one personally appeared John Franklin party to the
within deed before me the subscriber one of the Justices
of the peace of anne arundel County and acknowledged
the same to be his act and deed to and for the use
and purpose therein mentioned and agreeable to the
form of the acts of assembly in such cases made
and provided

          To all whom it may concern  Be it known
That I mary Callahan of the City of annapolis in anne
arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good
causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also
in further consideration of three hundred dollars Current
money to me in hand paid have released from slavery
liberated manumitted and set free and by these
