160 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I William Brewer of the City of annapolis for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free on the first day of may Eighteen hundred and thirty one my mulatto man named Watt being of the age of twenty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and I do also hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free on the first day of may Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight my negro man named George being of the age of twenty six years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance the said mulatto man named Watt and the said negro man named George I declare be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators at the expiration of the respective periods above mentioned and expressed in this deed of manumission In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 16th day of may Eighteen hundred and twenty Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us Benjamin Pindle Wm Brewer (seal) Tho.s Karney On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars Current money it being |
