149 and set free and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the end and expiration of Eleven years commencing from the date of these presents my negro woman named Mary being of the age of seventeen years and able to gain a sufficient maintenance and do also by these presents liberate and manumit her issue hereafter to be born if males to be free after they shall have attained the age of thirty years and if females after they shall have attained the age of twenty Eight years and the said negro woman and her issue I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators from and after the end and expiration of the term and ages aforesaid. In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of march in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Thomas McNier Wm Brewer (seal) Rezin D Baldwin On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: anne arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on this sixth day of march in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty personally appears William Brewer party to the within deed or instrument of writing before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the said deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the negro woman therein named and her issue to be free after the periods and at the ages therein mentioned according to the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Chd Rezin D Baldwin Ex.d d.d 3½ Recorded the 6th day of march 1820 |
