139 Be it remembered That I Elizabeth Shippley of anne arundel County State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereto moving have manumitted liberated and set free and do hereby manumit liberate and set free from and after the first day of November in the year Eighteen hundred thirty three my negro Boy Joe being now about sixteen years old and within the age allowed by him and able to earn a livelihood and I do hereby for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro Boy Joe from and after the day above mentioned release and discharge of and from all service or servitude whatsoever from that time for ever In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this twelth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Elizabeth Shipley (seal) Joseph Shane Samuel Shane At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: State of maryland ann arundle County to wit On this twelth day of November 1819 before the subscriber a Justice of peace of said State for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the above manumission to be her act and deed according to the act of assembly made and provided in such cases paid Abner Linthicum d.d Ex.d 2½ Recorded the 14th day of December 1819 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I Jeremiah Gaither of ann arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of One Dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated (manumitted) |
