138 and set free my negro woman named Abigaile now about the age of twenty five years from and after the first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty six she being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Abigaile I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from and after the period herein before mentioned from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators for ever and all the increase of her the said abigaile born during the term of her servitude to serve if males twenty five years and if females twenty one years In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of R Welch of Ben N J Watkins (seal) Nelson R Nichols on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this sixth day of December Eighteen hundred and nineteen personally appears Nicholas J Watkins party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed Ch.d Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d R Welch of Ben 3¼ Recorded the 6th day of December 1819 |
