132 Know all men by these presents that I Richard Mullen of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to me in hand paid by Susannah mullen of the same State and County have manumitted liberated and discharged from slavery and by these presents do manumit liberate and discharge from slavery the following negroes to wit Susanna mullin Eliza mullin aged seven years, Hagar mullin aged three years, Priscilla mullin aged two years and all the issue of the said Susannah Mullin which said Susannah Mullin I purchased of James Deale of anne arundel County and I the said Richard Mullin do hereby declare the said negroes to be absolutely free exonerated and discharged from all claims of slavery of me and my heirs Executors and administrators for ever. In Witness whereof I the said Richard Mullen have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day of October Eighteen hundred and seventeen Signed Sealed and delivered his in the presence of Richard X Mullin T Tongue J.r mark William Weems on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County sc.s On this twenty second day of October Eighteen hundred and nineteen before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid appeared the above named Richard Mullen and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his act and deed and the above named Susanna Mullin Eliza Mullen Hagar mullin and Priscilla mullin to be absolutely free and discharged from all claims of servitude to him his heirs Executors and administrators paid P H OReilly Ex.d d.d 2¾ Recorded the 29th day of October 1819 |
