11 presents do manumit and set free from slavery one negro woman named Kitty about thirty two years of age one negroe boy named Dennis about three years of age and one negroe boy named Richard about one year of age the said negroes to be free from the date hereof. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal the twenty Eighth day of November Eighteen hundred & sixteen Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of Rachel Gassaway Elizabeth Griffith (seal) Nicholas Worthington of Thos At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County ss On the 28th Novr 1816 Came Elizabeth Griffith before me a Justice of the peace for sd County and acknowledged the above writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning paid Nich.s Worthington of Tho.s 1¾ Recorded the 2d day of December 1816 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Susanna Franklin of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have from and after the first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight and twenty Eight release from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these prents from and after the time aforesaid do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy named Nicholas being of the age of nine years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Negro (boy) |
