89 manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro girl named Sophia when she shall arrive at the age of sixteen years which will be on the ninth day of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two I do declare her thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude and service to me my executors or administrators forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of april in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten Witness R Welch of Ben & William Collinson Zach Duvall on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Ann Arundel county to wit, on this sixteenth day of april personally appears William Collinson party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro girl within mentioned after the within mentioned term thenceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to him or any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before Jos Jenifer Recorded 18.th April 1810 Know all Men by these presents that I John Chew Thomas of ann arundel county and state of Maryland do hereby set free manumit and grant freedom to all my negroe slaves at the respective times and in the manner following that is to say I set free manumit (and) |
