40 Ex.d To all whom it may concern be it known that I Thomas W.m Hewitt of the city of Annapolis of anne arundel county in the state of maryland for divers good causes and considerations of fifty two dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named George Weebster being of the age of forty three years & able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named George Webster I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 25.th day of July in the year of our Lord 1808 signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Nichs Z McCubbin Tho.s W.m Hewitt (seal) Joseph Sands on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of fifty two dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Joseph Sands Tho.s W.m Hewitt Anne Arundel county to wit on this 25.th day of July 1808 personally appeared Tho.s W.m Hewitt party to the within instrument of writing before |
