of one dollar current money to me in hand paid
have released from slavery liberated manumitted
and set free and by these presents do hereby release
from slavery liberate manumit and set free
my negro woman named Lydia from and after
the first day of May next being able to work and
gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance
and her the said negro woman named Lydia
I do declare to be free manumitted and and
discharged from the date above from all manner
of servitude or service to me my executors or
administrators forever.  In Testimony whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this seventeenth day of January in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen

On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit
Received on the day of the date within mentioned
the sum of one dollar current money it being
the full consideration money within mentioned

on this seventeenth day of January one thousand
eight hundred and sixteen personally appears
