3 under her hand and seal duly acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of anne arundel county court aforesaid did manumit liberate and set free or intended so to do a mulatto woman named Charity Folks a mulatto Girl named Hannah a mulatto boy named James Jackson and a female child named charity all children of the said Charity Folks and by the said writing immediate freedom was given unto the said Charity Folks and unto her said daughter Hannah and freedom to take place at a future day was thereby given unto the said James Jackson and Charity the said other children of the said charity Folks And whereas doubts have arisen or may arise whether all or any of the said Instruments of writing have been executed and acknowledged agreeably to law so as to carry into effect the intentions of the makers thereof and for the purpose of removing doubts and aiding any defects which may exist therein Be it Known that we Mary Ridout widow of the said John Ridout Esquire Samuel Ridout and Horatio Ridout executors of the said John Ridout for and in consideration of the premises and also in further consideration of the sum of one dollar current money of the United States to us in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted set free and confirmed in their said freedom and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit set free and confirm in their freedom according to and upon the terms set forth and contained in the several and respective Instruments of writing herein before mentioned and referred to the said several and respective |
