283 within instrument of writing before me a Justice of peace of the State of Maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the mulatto male slave within named at the end of eight years from the date hereof to be manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before ch.d John Johns 3½ Recorded the 1.st day of August 1814 To all whom it may concern Be it Known that Ann Lane of Anne Arundel County did on the thirtyeth day of march in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninety eight make and execute her last will and testament in writing and therein and thereby did set free a negro by the name of Ned when he should arrive to the age of twenty one years. And the said Ann Lane did by her said Will authorise John Warring Susanna Lane and Osborn Sprigg Harwood to liberate the said negro Ned when he should arrive to the age aforesaid. Now I the said Susanna Lane one of the partys authorised as aforesaid do hereby liberate manumit and set free the said negro Ned aforesaid and I do declare him to be henceforth ^free^ manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or |
