279 To all whom it may concern Be it Known that we John Smith and Lucy Smith of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations us thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to us in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free our negro woman named Jenny being of the age of thirty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman Jenny we do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to us our Executors or administrators forever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 27.th day of June one thousand eight hundred and fourteen his Signed Sealed and delivered John X Smith (seal) in the presence of mark Louis Gassaway her Geo.e A.
