261 hundred and ninety eight which will is legally proved and recorded according to law in the Register of Wills Office for the County aforesaid And the said Ann Lane did devise under her said will that a certain negro Girl by the name of Sall daughter of Bett about twelve years old should be manumitted and set free. And whereas the said Ann Lane did by her said will authorise and empower John Warren Osborn Sprigg Harwood and Susanna Lane or either of them to manumit liberated and set free the said negro Sall Therefore I the said Susanna Lane by the power vested to me under the said will do liberate manumit and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery the said negro Sall and declare her to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude agreeably to the will of the said Ann Lane. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2.nd day of May in the year of our Lord 1814 Signed Sealed and delivered Susana Lane (seal) in the presence of R. Welch of Ben Jn.o Gassaway On the back of the aforegoinmg was thus endorsed to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On this 14th day of February eighteen hundred and fourteen personally |
