248 negro Priss aged about three years to serve until the twenty seventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and thirty five and negro Nell aged about two years to serve until the twenty seventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and thirty six and the Children of the said female negroes if any they should have during their times of servitude also to serve the said John Drummond Carter his executors administrators or assigns until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty five years. And as I am desirous of liberating and manumitting the said negroes and their issue so as secure for them the enjoyment of their freedom after the expiration of respective times of servitude as aforesaid. Now Be it Known that I the said Sophia G Ridgely for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in the further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby liberate manumit release from slavery and set free my negro woman named Ment aged about about twenty two years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance from and after the twenty seventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and twenty three |
