231 presents that he shall be considered to all intents and purposes a free man and at the expiration of which time I do hereby declare that the said John Moale shall be fully liberated and discharged from the service of him the said Jeremiah Watkins and his heirs executors adm.rs and assigns as also from me my heirs executors administrators and assigns In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twelfth day Dec.r 1813 Witness Rachel Snowden (seal) Tho Worthington J.r Charleton Smith On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc.t On the twelfth day Dec.r 1813 came the within named Rachel Snowden before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before chd Tho Worthington Jr 2¼ Recorded the 28.th day of December 1813 Know all men by these presents that I Rachel Snowden of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and set free all the following described negroe slaves now my property and in my possession viz.t Samuel Johnson a mulatta man aged |
