214 causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of two hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my coloured woman slave named Polly being of the age of twenty one years and her son Joseph being of the age of seven years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said coloured woman slave named Polly and her son Joseph I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twelfth day of April in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirteen Signed Sealed and Henry Howard of Ep.n (seal) delivered in the presence of Samuel Brown Junr Vachel Brown On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of two hundred dollars current money it being the full consideration money above mentioned Henry Howard of Eph.n (seal) Anne |
