19 Register of wills office for anne arundel county and among other negroes did devise a negro woman by the name of Doll aged about fourteen years to be free with power to her sister Susanna Lane John Warring and Osborn Sprigg Harwood or either of them to liberate and set free the said negro woman named Doll therefore in pursuance of the power vested to me under the will of Ann Lane I do hereby liberate manumit and set free from slavery the said negro woman named Doll being about fourteen years of age and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Doll I do declare to be henceforth liberated manumitted and freed from slavery In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this seventh day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seven Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Susanna Lane (Seal) Gideon White Jn.o M. Sewell on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel county sc.t Be it remembered that on the day of october eighteen hundred and seven personally appears Susanna Lane party to the above Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made & provided acknowledged before Recorded oct.r 7 1807 Gideon White |
