123 Maryland Sct Exd To all whom these presents shall come Greeting I David Weems of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby declare free manumit and enfranchise negro Jam commonly called James Booth hereby acknowledging the said negro discharged from all claim of service and right of property whatsoever from me my heirs executors or administrators. As Witness my hand and seal the 24 Day of September Eighteen Hundred and Ten Signed Sealed & delivered ^acknowledged^ David Weems (seal) in the presents of Henry Childs John B Weems On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit Anne Arundel County Then came David Weems before me the subscriber one of the Justices of peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the above to be his act and deed according to the intent and meaning thereof Henry Childs Recorded the 25.th September 1810 |
