15 of the county aforesaid bearing date on the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety one & recorded amongst the records of anne arundel county court af.d that freedom was thereby granted unto a negro woman stated then to be of the age of three years & nine months which said freedom was to take place from the date of the said manumission I further certify that a negro woman named Henny now present and who has made application to me for a certificate of her freedom has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person who was manumitted by the above mentioned deed of manumission The said negro woman named Henny is about five feet three inches high and appears to be about the age of nineteen she is of a very dark complexion and was raised in the city of annapolis in the county of ann arundel Issued 14.th of may 1807 State of maryland Anne arundel county Sc.t I Nicholas Harwood clerk of ann arundel county court Hereby certify that a negro man named Benjamin Matthews who is no present and who has made application to me for a certificate of his freedom has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that he was born free, the said Benjamin Matthews is about five feet nine inches high of the age of about twenty nine years his complexion a dark brown and was born at the head of south river in |
