31 State of Maryland anne arundel county Sc.t I Nicholas Harwood clerk of ann arundel county hereby certify that it appears by a deed of manumission executed by Richard Hopkins of the county aforesaid bearing date on the twelfth day of the seventh month in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and eighty two and recorded amongst the records of ann arundel county court aforesaid that freedom was thereby granted unto a negro woman by the name of Fanny stated to be then of the age of six years which said freedom was to take place when the said negro woman named Fanny should arrive to the age of eighteen years I further certify that a negro woman named Fanny now present and who has made application to me for a certificate of her freedom has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person who was manumitted by the above mentioned deed of manumission the said negro woman named Danny is about five feet three inches high and appears to be about thirty two years of age she is of a dark complexion and was raised in at the head of south river in the county aforesaid she has a scar on her forehead and has lost one of her upper teeth Issued 19.th may 1807 |
