294. Maryland for the said County and acknowledged the same to be his Act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the Negro woman and child within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any Claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in Such Cases made and provided Acknowledged Before Gideon White Recorded the 4th of March 1807 Ex.d Maryland Sc.t To all whom these presents shall come Greeting I Charles Williams of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby free manumite and enfranchise to following negro to wit Sophia aged about seventeen years free from the date hereof Hereby acknowledging the said negro Discharged from all claim of Service and right of property whatever from me my Heirs executors or administrators as witness my hand and seal this day of in the year of our blessed Lord one thousand Eight hundred and six his Signed sealed acknowledg.d Charles + Williams (seal) in the presence of mark Cepharis Ward Elizabeth Tongue on the back of the aforegoing was thus endors.d A. A. County August 8.th 1806. Then came Charles Williams before me one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the above Instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the true purpose and meaning thereof acknowledged before Tho.s Tongue Recorded August 9 1806 |
